rye (they/them) was born & mostly raised in nashville, tennessee. they started writing songs in elementary school, but felt convinced they didn’t have what “it took” to be an artist. got sober at 25 & started listening to dreams that they had shoved down, deep within themselves for over a decade. now based in brooklyn, ny - sharing their first official release with the world: dreamy, ethereal, indie-folk single “Places and the Times”

“Nashville based Rye Golde has a voice crooning melodies that move you and pull you inside her folk indie / dream pop universe on her track ‘Places and the Times.’ Moving serenely on acoustic guitar and embracing bass lines that feel exquisitely organic she crafts a dense sound. You can hear, feel the string slides and squeaks which only adds to the natural beauty of her vocal lilt. Her vox are layered up in big and intimate ways, in hushes and big sustains. Other sounds and most especially, the sparkle of descending piano notes add a dream pop vastness and gives the entire affair a surreal patina.

‘Places and the Times’ is a stunning piece of textured work, glowing and burning like a long lost ember.”

A captivating debut single from Rye Golde, “Places and the Times” stuns with its dreamy folk engrossment. Serenely entrancing vocals and gentle guitars guide to an emotive expansion, falling gracefully back into the nocturnal folk feeling thereafter. This aforementioned rise strikes with spine-chilling vocal expansion; multiple vocal layers converge with soaring qualities, reminiscent of Weyes Blood’s production. “Places and the Times” impresses with its diverse tonal structure, shifting effortlessly from folk-laden intimacy and gorgeously ethereal vocal rises.
